US election of 1932
The election of 1932 is said to be a
turning point in American politics because it significantly changed the federal
government’s perceptions about the laissez-fare economy and pushed for more
“people friendly” policies from D. Roosevelt who was elected. He promised a new
deal for the Americans, who were facing a lot of difficulty as a result of the
Great Depression. He called for more government spending to help an economy
that was collapsing. This optimism changed the face of American politics forever.
It also called for higher private spending as well as production of goods and
services to revive the economy. The Americans accepted the greater role played
by the federal government to help them.
