Jimmy Carter and energy and education
The main accomplishments of Jimmy Carter
are that he took over the creation of two cabinet level departments related to
energy and education, he formulated a holistic energy policy for the nation, he
took proper measures to conserve the environment and also promoted bureaucratic
streamlining. He was also responsible for the Camp David talks, if foreign
policy is to be considered. But he was criticised for not doing anything on the
social front: marriage rates declined, additional taxes were levied on the
middle class, and his critics also argue that he had poor leadership kills,
especially in the case of the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan where he did not
take a predominant decision.
