Advantages of using Solar Energy
1.Renewable Source: As the solar energy derives its electric power from the sun’s
radiation, it makes the solar energy to reliable, powerful and most importantly
renewable. The energy is harnessed from a source that is almost available
everyday in most parts of the globe (Ewing & Pratt 2005, p.168). Therefore,
as long as the earth’s surface is going to experience the sunshine light, we
are going to enjoy the continuous use of solar energy.
2. Low Electricity Bills: The
electricity bills decreases because the energy needs will be met by the
electricity generated by the solar system. The bills available will only depend
on the usage and the solar system size. Savings on the electricity can also be
experienced when owners of the solar system sell the excess electricity, at
higher rates during the day time, and buy at lower rates during the evening
time.
3. Decreased Maintenance Costs: The
costs of maintaining the solar panels are relatively cheaper. This is because,
the only required effort is to ensure the panels are clean and functioning
(Ewing & Pratt 2005, p.168). Furthermore, the inverters in the panels only
require to be changed after five to ten years, as it functions as a converter
of energy into electricity.
4. Diverse Applications: Solar
energy has different functions, such as producing heat, which is referred to as
solar thermal and generating electricity, which is the photovoltaic process. It
can also be integrated in materials used in buildings, such as the solar energy
materials. In addition, this energy can be used to distill water in areas
lacking clean water, as well as powering space satellites.
5.Technology Development: The
solar energy advancements are constantly improving from the past years, and it
is expected to be even better in the near future. Because of the innovations
occurring in the solar systems, using the solar energy is significant to the
innovators and the users.
