HYDERABAD CITY GUIDE Hyderabad is the fifth largest city of India and is also the capital of Andhra Pradesh which is third largest state of India. The population is more than fifty lacs and a total area of 727 square kilometres over the Deccan Plateau. Hyderabad was governed by Qutub Shahis and the city has a glorious past of almost as old as four hundred years. The capital of the then city was Bhagyanagar and it was named after the deceased wife of Quli Shah which was later honoured later as the Hyder Mahal and thus came the foundation of the city Hyderabad. The city of Hyderabad was founded on the Musi River which is five miles away on the Eastern side of Golconda which was the capital of the Quli Shahi monarchs during 1591-92 by Muhammed Quli Qutub Shah. The Qutub Shahi Empire founded the realm of Golconda which is one amongst the five dominions that grew after the breakdown of the Bahamani Empire.
